Whilst our volunteer editors will do their best to ensure our events listings are as up to date and accurate as possible; with the fast pace of how things are changing, it is inevitable that some will slip through the net. If you are planning on travelling for larger events, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly to avoid disappointment. We are putting in place new measures to give event organisers a friendly reminder to see if they wish to remove cancelled events, so we're sorry if it looks a bit bare in here :(
If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for free, professional advice.
Adult Sunrise Walk and Breakfast, 16th January 2025, 7:30 to 9:00 at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre (11.9 miles)
A tranquil morning stroll to start the day, followed by a pastry breakfast by the wood stove.
Start the day a bit differently! As the sun rises join us for an early morning meander - a fox stalking through the frosted leaves, spider webs jewelled with dew, a light mist rising over the meadow - there is always something to see. A member of our learning team will guide you around the varied habitats on our nature reserve, then we'll finish the walk with hot drinks and pastries to send you off to the rest of your day refreshed! (Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary preferences in good time) Breakfast will either be in our big classroom by the woodstove, overlooking the meadow and pond.
We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you or your child are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.
Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
Please dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes.
You must inform us in good time if you have any dietary requirements or allergies so we can cater for you - please email sceec@bbowt.org.uk after booking.

Burns Night with a difference! Celebrating the legacy of Robert Burns, Scottish Literary Hero, this special museum late event features a packed programme.
Immerse yourself in the atmospheric Whispering Wood with the wonderful Creation Theatre and enjoy dramatic poetry readings of Burns' poetry. Create your very own poetry-inspired zine in the Magic Common Room with Imperfect Bound.
Get your Ceilidh on in the Woodshed Theatre with the wonderful Sunbird. A ceilidh is a party with lots of dancing! Expect top tunes on fiddle, mouth organ and guitar, and perhaps a few on bagpipes too! The caller will explain all the dances, and remind you of the steps as the music plays - so this is an ideal event to come to if you're new to ceilidh dancing. Nature Tots at Sutton Courtenay, 5th February 2025, 9:30 to 11:00 at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre (11.9 miles)
Join our friendly Nature Tots staff and volunteers to explore the nature reserve and enjoy wildlife themed activities suitable for children aged 18 months to 4 years. We have a different theme each month, eg mini-beasts, dinosaurs or weather, and every session includes wildlife exploration, sensory play, stories and crafts. We start with child-led play and then come together for a story (it's a good idea to bring a snack for your child to eat at this point, and we provided tea and coffee for grown ups) and usually some singing before we move on to a few extra activities, often including a craft. A lovely way to spend quality time in the great outdoors with your child.
Please note activities will take place outdoors - dress for the weather! In the event of extreme weather we may use the centre building.
You only need to book a place for your child, not for the accompanying adult. It's fine to bring baby siblings along, they do not need a ticket.
